SOHAR Port and Freezone Management Programme Billed a Huge Success

SOHAR Port and Freezone wrapped up its annual Management Programme last week, after another successful four-day event. Twelve participants from Muscat and SOHAR government entities took part in the programme, which aims to promote ease of business for Freezone businesses.

The Management Programme teaches participants about the operations of Freezone businesses, equipping them with the skills to work more effectively and efficiently together. Participants were given insight into a number of areas including utilisation of resources, transfer of technology and localisation of industries. They were also introduced to the mission and goals of SOHAR Port and Freezone, the structure of the company, the marketing of the Port and ways to attract investment.

Attendee, Jasim Saif Al Jadeedi, Head of Industry License and Regulations and Directorate General of Commerce and Industry, says: “The Management Programme has been invaluable in helping to increase efficiency. We have learnt to simplify procedures to help facilitate and speed up approvals for investors, as well as how to come up with solutions to overcome any challenges we might face around areas such as arbitration, environment and municipality. I look forward to working with SOHAR Port and Freezone to help facilitate its mission.”

SOHAR Freezone CEO, Jamal Aziz, says: “As SOHAR grows at an unprecedented rate, it is fundamental for us to invest in training to help businesses run as smoothly as possible. Good working relationships based on passing on knowledge help to create an efficient and most importantly, successful business environment; this is key to the growth of the Omani economy.”
